Sorry bout that Reagan. I have a tendency to speak out of my ass and I did not see the second post. Anyway, in regards to the learning disability, I don't think they will add in a legendary guardian simply because they have already made too many changes to titles already. While it would be nice, I do not think it is realistic. Perhaps you can persuade your daughter to go for another legendary title that is easier but doable? Legendary skill hunter comes to mind. All you have to do is bring a cap sig while your heroes do the work.

But what about the people who play this game and won't achieve that? I'm talking specifically about people like my daughter who has a learning disability. She is 23, but doesn't always understand the best way to play. For her to get the Protector title, it would be a major accomplishment.
And I'm not trying to be rude, but I only want to hear mature comments. She plays fairly well, but when she completes a mission, it's an accomplishment for her. To have bonus, too, would be a dream come true. So why not allow a Protector title for those who might not ever make HM?
|
Because her having a disability instantly makes everything far harder for her and a game (nor society) is not obliged to prevent that - it's a disability, not an entitlement. I've got a motor-coordination disability, but I don't demand that I be allowed into elite level sports - I make do with playing in the park on weekends.
As for a good reason why, it's because the maxed titles track is structured around all of the 'easy' titles taking you to 29 titles + survivor (which is easy if you got a chance to attempt it on your main) = 30. If you put a Legendary Protector in there it becomes pretty damn easy to GWAMM in a minimal amount of time.

That's SO funny! (Notice there's no smiley face here.) I didn't demand that she be allowed into any elite title!!! I was asking a question, that's all!
And if you had just read my first post, first, everyone would see that my original thoughts are that it just makes sense to have a Legendary Protector title. If you've already achieved GWAMM, I'm not trying to step on your toes! But Legendary Protector would be far different from Legendary Guardian and I'm not sure why it was boxed together in the first place.
Anyway, I've taken my shoes off, and I promise to wear my slippers from now on, and not step on any toes. It's absolutely amazing to me that one question can have so many people down my throat. You all make me want to play by myself, too.
maraxusofk - I never expected that it would be done. I was looking for opinions...that's all. But thanks for what you said.
I wish you all well on the forum!
If you read my last post, you'll see that I said it's over now! I'm done. There will be no more posts from me on this thread. So, if you wanted to slam me in some sort of way for not being a good parent or whatever any of you have said, go ahead. I'm not coming back here to read any more of this.
I'M DONE! DONE!

im not trying to be rude or a dick or anything when i say this, but i really just cant think of any way to say this without looking like one, so i apologize in advance because it is not my intention at all.
one of the main reasons Anet wouldnt do this, is a reason i agree with. I see no way they could make it easier for people like your daughter to play hard mode effectively without dumbing the game down for the rest of us to the extent where nothing is hard anymore (not that all that much is hard for a lot of players even at this point even in HM, with the special hero builds and such running around). Thats really all there is to it.

This of asking for opinions but then giving an example that makes everyone that disagree look like they lack compassion or are arses that enjoy others misfortune, is one of the things that really ticks me off.

FYI, there *are* people who have finished all HM content prior to the release of EotN. Same goes for max survivors.
Reagan,

Clearly something can have value without being special. That should be very obvious. Further more, I said it is no longer special, implying that it's "value" has been degraded, and then went onto suggest that adding more free titles to the game would devalue it further. Please practice 'ur' critical thinking, ty.

Your memory is faulty, the introduction of hardmode made the title obtainable (During Nightfall, April 2007 I think) four and half months before the launch of EotN. 31 PvE titles, not counting the mutually exclusive Survivor/LDoA, nor The maxed Gwamm itself. EotN just made it so much easier, both with the addition of new PvE skills and Consumables, and the new titles themselves.
All of this is off topic, I hope Reagan's daughter has fun and manages to earn some titles along the way, I've spoken to her in game and offered my assistance if ever she should want it. Goodluck Reagan's daughter!

I thought of a way! You could have actually read the OP before posting a response that completely missed its point. (But don't feel bad. You've got a lot of company in this thread.)
Reagan was not asking for HM to be made easier, or dumbed down, or changed in any way whatsoever. In fact, she was asking about the existence of a NM title for players that have attained all three Protector titles, but are not interested or capable of playing HM.
As has been mentioned, this could easily be implemented without impacting the GWAMM track, by making it a displayable, but not max, title. Kind of like how you can display "Indomitable Survivor(2)" without it counting toward GWAMM until you reach the max level of that title track.
As far as I can see, with no downsides whatsoever, the resounding response from everyone should be "Sure, why not?".

The downside is that it's going to be diluting the quality of people's GWAMM titles, because it's so easy as to be not an accomplishment.

You do yourself a disservice by only reading every third or fourth word. Try to read each and every one of the following, as slowly as you need to. I'll even bold some words for emphasis:

Okay, I told trankle I wasn't going to do this, but I'm going to post one last time. He, and several others who have posted here, understand completely what I'm saying.
But I really don't want anymore fighting about this. It's not worth it. It's a game. When I see people fighting amongst themselves on a thread that I started, it makes me really sad.
When you sit in judgment of me for something you know nothing about, it makes me really sad. You HAVE to live it before you can understand. AND it makes me not want to play anymore. It's like people without kids judging their siblings or other relatives on how they're raising their kids. You can't make a judgment...or you shouldn't...not until you have them yourself.
This small thread is a perfect example of how ppl jump to conclusions, judge other people, and don't take time to read what is said. If we're doing this in this thread, then we're doing it in real life, too. We all need to listen, and not jump to conclusions about what someone is saying.
Now, all that aside...I still think it's a good idea to be able to display a Legendary Protector title without it having any impact whatsoever on the GWAMM title. What trankle says is a much better way to say it than I did. Maybe it's not possible to do, but that's what I started this thread on and this is what I'm ending it on.
NOW, I'm done. Thank you for all of your comments and wisdom.
Reagan

I can remember a time before hard mode....when titles were first being implemented.....I can also remember a thread about what changes were going to occur when HM was introduced---one was about how protector would change....if my memory is not completely gagooe then I also remember that the title was around before hm which means there WAS a prot title for all 3 campaigns which was changed with HM guardian title. I remember something about this because my monk was very close to getting prot of his last chapter (nf) when this happened and I was kinda upset that it was going to be changing (to something that I can not get either---Yes, OP its not just your daugther that has problems with HM).
----would need to look thru the archives to find my post in that thread---sorry dont really feel like looking for it now.
But am I the ONLY person who remembers the time BEFORE HM and what the prot title line was then????

I admit to being old and of failing mental faculties, but I don't recall any Legendary Protector title, earned for having all three campaign Protector titles.
There is no mention of it in the title changes when hard mode was introduced (Hard Mode update notes), nor on the Protector title talk page. Honestly, I think you might be remembering something that never happened. I've had days like that.
Legendary protector [1] as rank 1 in the Legendary Guardian [2] title track /signed
Legendary Protector [1] as a seperate maxed title. Nty.

I don't think Legendary Protector should be a max title on it's own it should be a tier to Legendary Guardian

Yeah, and check out the link the one guy posted to a thread like mine from February 2008. Maybe Anet should rethink their position on the title.
I signed it, but have been told my post was deleted. I'm going to check on that now and resign.

Legendary Protector should be available, it's logical
Most of you already have Legendary Guardian so what do you care if someone wants it? There is still a lot of players out there who can not do HM because it's too difficult
I'm asking the "no-no" people... What do you care? Most of the arguments are so poor that I can't be bothered to answer. Because you are soooo God damn elite, you rule and control the game and you don't want it... for no obvious reason.
